Thanks to our collaboration with the Infectios Diseases Unit of the General Hospital of Elche-Fisabio foundation we publised together a paper in the Journal Clinical Infectious Diseases entitled “Virological History Predicts Non-sustained Viral Suppression with Long-Acting Cabotegravir and Rilpivirine Therapy, independent of Pharmacokinetic Parameters”.<\/p>\n
This study investigated the factors contributing to non-sustained viral suppression, such as intermittent viremia and persistent low-level viremia, during long-acting (LA) injectable therapy with cabotegravir (CAB) and rilpivirine (RPV), with a specific focus on pharmacokinetics (PK). The findings suggest that non-sustained viral suppression in people with HIV (PWH) transitioning from stable oral ART to CAB+RPV LA was associated with pre-existing factors prior to the transition. Elevated viral loads before ART initiation and incomplete suppression during oral therapy increased the risk, regardless of PK parameters.<\/p>\n
