Our researchers, <strong data-start=\"318\" data-end=\"372\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.umh.es\/contenido\/Estudios\/:persona_258104\/datos_en.html\">David Caba\u00f1ero<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/idibe.umh.es\/en\/dra-asia-fernandez-carvajal\/\">Asia Fern\u00e1ndez<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/idibe.umh.es\/en\/dr-antonio-ferrer-montiel\/\">Antonio Ferrer<\/a><\/strong>, in collaboration with the <strong data-start=\"400\" data-end=\"425\">University of Granada<\/strong> and the <strong data-start=\"434\" data-end=\"461\">University of Bath (UK)<\/strong>, have shown that this thermal sensor also regulates impulsivity, anxiety, and depressive symptoms.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"564\" data-end=\"757\">Using animal models and an artificial intelligence algorithm to detect facial expressions of pain, they found that the absence of TRPM8 increases vulnerability to these emotional alterations.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"759\" data-end=\"1115\">Furthermore, the team discovered that this receptor is activated not only by cold or menthol, but also by <strong data-start=\"865\" data-end=\"881\">testosterone<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"886\" data-end=\"899\">rapamycin<\/strong>, which could explain sex-related differences and open new therapeutic avenues.
