\ud83c\udf3e At IDiBE<\/strong>, we celebrate how the science we develop in collaboration with other organizations is making steady progress toward society<\/strong>, generating real-world impact<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Our Research Group on the Design and Development of Bioactive Molecules<\/strong><\/a> is participating in a project that has led to the discovery of anti-ageing properties<\/strong> in extracts obtained from rice straw<\/strong>, an abundant agricultural residue in the Valencian Community.<\/p>\n

This study \u2014 recently featured in La Vanguardia<\/em><\/a><\/strong> \u2014 shows how agricultural by-products<\/strong> can be transformed into high-value ingredients<\/strong> for the cosmetics industry, promoting a more circular, sustainable, and competitive economy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

According to our researcher Enrique Barraj\u00f3n-Catal\u00e1n<\/strong><\/a>, \u201cthe goal is to ensure that rice straw stops being a problem and becomes profitable for rice farmers.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Meanwhile, Pepe Castro<\/strong><\/a>, regional director of projects at La Uni\u00f3 Llauradora i Ramadera<\/em><\/a>, explained that the main challenge was removing the straw from the soil<\/strong>, a material that is difficult to handle, especially in wet or flooded fields.<\/p>\n

Thanks to the joint work<\/strong> of all the organizations involved \u2014 IDiBE<\/strong>, La Uni\u00f3<\/em>, Inescop<\/strong><\/a> (the Footwear Technology Institute), and the company Analco Auxiliar Calzado S.A.U<\/a>.<\/strong> \u2014 there is now a viable and innovative business plan<\/strong> to turn this residue into a valuable resource<\/strong> for both the footwear and cosmetics sectors.<\/p>\n
