{"id":24983,"date":"2025-11-14T11:25:05","date_gmt":"2025-11-14T11:25:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/idibe.umh.es\/?p=24983"},"modified":"2025-11-14T11:25:05","modified_gmt":"2025-11-14T11:25:05","slug":"november-14-world-diabetes-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/idibe.umh.es\/en\/2025\/11\/14\/november-14-world-diabetes-day\/","title":{"rendered":"November 14 &#8212; World DIABETES Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"57\" data-end=\"271\">Today, <strong data-start=\"64\" data-end=\"81\">November 14th<\/strong>, we commemorate <strong data-start=\"98\" data-end=\"120\">World Diabetes Day<\/strong>, a key date to raise awareness about the significant health and social impact of this disease, as well as the importance of research and prevention.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"273\" data-end=\"464\">At <strong data-start=\"276\" data-end=\"289\">IDiBE\u2013UMH<\/strong>, we have a <strong data-start=\"301\" data-end=\"336\">Diabetes Research Unit (UNIBAD)<\/strong> fully dedicated to studying the molecular, cellular, and physiological mechanisms involved in diabetes and its complications.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"466\" data-end=\"534\">This unit is composed of three highly specialized research groups:<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"536\" data-end=\"664\">\ud83d\udd2c <strong data-start=\"539\" data-end=\"567\">Islet Cell Signaling Lab<\/strong><br data-start=\"567\" data-end=\"570\" \/>Studies how chemical pollutants influence glucose homeostasis.<br data-start=\"632\" data-end=\"635\" \/>\ud83d\udd17 <a class=\"decorated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/lnkd.in\/dq8rhpnr\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"638\" data-end=\"662\">https:\/\/lnkd.in\/dq8rhpnr<\/a><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"666\" data-end=\"907\">\ud83e\udd30 <strong data-start=\"669\" data-end=\"705\">Diabesity and Islet Research Lab<\/strong><br data-start=\"705\" data-end=\"708\" \/>Focuses on the pathophysiology of gestational diabetes and its relevance to the later development of type 2 diabetes, with a special emphasis on obesity as a risk factor.<br data-start=\"878\" data-end=\"881\" \/>\ud83d\udd17 <a class=\"decorated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/dialab.umh.es\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"884\" data-end=\"905\">https:\/\/dialab.umh.es<\/a><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"909\" data-end=\"1111\">\ud83e\udd7c <strong data-start=\"912\" data-end=\"933\">Islet Biology Lab<\/strong><br data-start=\"933\" data-end=\"936\" \/>Works to understand the molecular differences between alpha and beta cells that allow the former to survive during the development of diabetes.<br data-start=\"1079\" data-end=\"1082\" \/>\ud83d\udd17 <a class=\"decorated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/lnkd.in\/dDbAiB4m\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"1085\" data-end=\"1109\">https:\/\/lnkd.in\/dDbAiB4m<\/a><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1113\" data-end=\"1338\">\ud83e\udd1d In addition, our unit actively collaborates with healthcare research centers such as <strong data-start=\"1201\" data-end=\"1221\">Fundaci\u00f3 Fisabio<\/strong>, strengthening the scientific ecosystem and advancing solutions to improve the metabolic health of the population.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1340\" data-end=\"1557\">\ud83d\udce3 Beyond scientific work, our researchers engage in extensive <strong data-start=\"1403\" data-end=\"1440\">outreach and awareness activities<\/strong>, bringing knowledge about diabetes closer to society and promoting healthy lifestyles and a culture of prevention.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1559\" data-end=\"1588\">\ud83d\udd17 <a class=\"decorated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/lnkd.in\/daffnhUt\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"1562\" data-end=\"1586\">https:\/\/lnkd.in\/daffnhUt<\/a><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1590\" data-end=\"1735\">\ud83d\udc99 On this <strong data-start=\"1601\" data-end=\"1623\">World Diabetes Day<\/strong>, we reaffirm our commitment to <strong data-start=\"1655\" data-end=\"1732\">excellence in research, knowledge transfer, and the well-being of society<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today, November 14th, we commemorate World Diabetes Day, a key date to raise awareness about the significant health and social impact of this disease, as well as the importance of research and prevention.
