Today, within the ceremony of the feast of Saint Thomas Aquinas, we had the investiture ceremony as honorary doctor by the Miguel Hernández University of Dr. Luis Serrano Pubul, director of the Center for Genomic Regulation (CRG).
For us it has been a very special event, which has included the intervention of our director, Antonio Ferrer Montiel, to offer the laudatio of the new honorary doctor and the intervention of Luis Serrano, offering a review of his professional career and main scientific achievements, among them, obtaining multiple European Research Council (ERC) projects, more than twenty patents and the founding of various spin-offs such as Diverdrugs, Pulmobiotics SL and Orikine Bio. Dr. Luis Serrano wanted to highlight the importance of teamwork and the support of his partner, also an excellent researcher, Isabelle Vernos.
Furthermore, both the Vice-Rector for Research and Transfer, Ángel Antonio Carbonell Barrachina, and the Rector of the UMH, Juan José Ruiz Martínez, have praised the career of Luis Serrano and have claimed the importance of investment in science.
