On this occasion, thanks to Verónica Rivero Hernández, we have the image of the month of May, in which we can observe the PDMS microfluidics used in neuronal compartmentalization models. The axons of the neurons can cross from one side to the other through the microchannels (height: 5 µm; width: 10 µm), which are observed in the center, separating the soma from the nerve endings (Scanning electron microscopy image).
At IDiBE we are working to develop human microphysiological systems to obtain more translational models and reduce animal research.
