On November 14, in honor of World Diabetes Day, we held the first session of the IDiBE CUENTA series. This new initiative aims to provide a deeper understanding of the work carried out by IDiBE’s various research groups.
This session featured Principal Investigators from the Basic Diabetes Research Unit, who presented their main lines of research. Angel Nadal spoke broadly about diabetes and, more specifically, about endocrine disruptors; Paloma Alonso Magdalena and Iván Quesada focused on gestational diabetes, and Laura Marroquí discussed type 1 diabetes. All four gave highly engaging presentations and then took part in a roundtable discussion, where attendees asked questions about their work. This led to a lively debate covering topics from the medical history of diabetes to the effects of endocrine disruptor exposure on animals.
Following the presentations, there was a snack break and a student poster session showcasing projects within the institute. We concluded the day with a Kahoot quiz based on the information presented, adding a fun way to test attendees’ attention. The winner was María López from the Peripheral Neuropathies group.
