IDiBE – UMH is excited to be part of the EXPLORA project, officially launched at the Kick-Off Meeting on December 16-17, 2024, hosted by ITENE in Paterna, near Valencia, Spain. This Horizon Europe and SERI initiative brings together 13 partners to explore the remarkable potential of aquatic extremophiles for sustainable industrial innovation.
About EXPLORA:
• Objective: Uncover bioactive compounds for pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, nutraceuticals, and recycling.
• Focus Areas: The acidic Rio Tinto in Spain and the Antarctic’s psychrophilic regions.
• Duration: 4 years (2024–2028).
• Budget: €5 million.
UMH’s Role in EXPLORA:
At UMH, we are proud to lead Work Package 5, focused on the validation of bioactive compounds identified during the project. Our expertise in molecular biology and advanced analytical techniques will ensure these discoveries are ready for industrial application, addressing key sustainability challenges.
We are eager to contribute to impactful solutions for a greener, more innovative future.
