Next Friday, June 6th, from 10:00 to 12:30, the Institute of Research, Development and Innovation in Health Biotechnology of Elche (IDiBE – UMH) will host the 1st Bioemprende IDiBE Conference: Spin-off Creation and Professional Futures.
Organized by the IDiBE Innovation Office, this event is aimed at principal investigators (PIs), senior and junior researchers, and students, with the goal of inspiring and promoting new career pathways through scientific entrepreneurship.
A spin-off is a company born within a research center, created to bring to market products or services derived from scientific results. Its core mission is to transform knowledge into real-world impact.
Universities—and particularly research institutes—are fertile grounds for innovative project ideas and highly qualified researchers. However, many researchers lack the basic entrepreneurial concepts needed to successfully navigate the challenges of starting a business. This conference aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry, offering new opportunities for professionals in the field of biotechnology. We seek to demonstrate how the creation of spin-offs and start-ups allows researchers to turn their ideas and expertise into business ventures that generate real societal value.
The event will feature entrepreneurship experts from the UMH Science Park, as well as researchers who have already undertaken this journey, sharing their insights in a practical and approachable format. Through this initiative, we aim to strengthen knowledge transfer and enhance the impact of biotechnological research carried out at IDiBE.
