Researchers Luis Pérez and María del Mar Ortega-Villaizán from the Antiviral Strategies in Aquaculture Research Group at the Institute of Research, Development and Innovation in Healthcare Biotechnology of Elche (IDiBE), Miguel Hernández University (UMH), took part in the annual meeting of the Marine Epidemiology Network (EPIMAR).
The event, held at the Faculty of Biology of the University of Murcia, brought together experts from across Spain to share the latest progress and results achieved over the past year in the field of aquatic animal health.
The EPIMAR Network, funded by the Spanish State Research Agency and coordinated by researcher Carlos Dopazo from the University of Santiago de Compostela, brings together ten research groups from all over Spain. Its main goal is to strengthen epidemiological surveillance of viral diseases affecting fish, molluscs, and crustaceans of importance to the aquaculture industry—a key sector for sustainable food production and the blue economy.
Through its participation in EPIMAR, IDiBE reaffirms its commitment to research in animal health and food safety, contributing to the prevention and control of diseases that impact marine ecosystems and aquaculture production.
