CMOS-MEA5000 Multichannel system
The CMOS-MEA5000 (Multichannel systems) is a key part of IDiBE’s high-throughput screening platform and provides its electrophysiology facilities with improved sensitivity, resolution and sampling capacity. The equipment is a recording and stimulation system for in vitro applications that allows the measurement of extracellular electrical activity with high resolution (>2k Electrodes/mm2) and sampling rate (25kHz).
The CMOS-MEA5000 is based on the use of a two-dimensional semiconductor array (CMOS) of more than 4000 electrodes as the fundamental recording element. Interspersed with these are 1000 stimulation electrodes. These arrays are housed in chips coupled to culture chambers with multiple designs, which are adapted to different types of samples, mainly tissue slices or cell culture.
In order to make the system more flexible, the following auxiliary equipment is available as part of the working platform:
- Temperature control system TC02 (Multichannel systems) with two channels for temperature ranges between 10°C and 40°C (± 0.1 °C).
- VCS-8-PTFE (Multichannel systems) perfusion system with automatic control and multiple options for the design of complex protocols with up to 8 different solutions.
- Peristaltic pump system PPS2 (Multichannel systems) that allows flow rate adjustment with a range of 0 – 30 ml/min with a resolution of 0.1ml/min.
This equipment has been acquired thanks to an intervention co-financiated by the European Union through the Programa Operativo del Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional (FEDER) from the Comunitat Valenciana 2014-2020 (PROJECT: IDIFEDER2020/022).
