The Grupo Soledad Foundation is going to hold a charity dinner on Friday, September 29. The contribution is 90 euros that will be distributed to finance projects by Cáritas, Conciénciate and the Miguel Hernández University of Elche.
The project developed by the UMH is carried out at the Institute for Research, Development and Innovation in Health Biotechnology of Elche (IDiBE), is led by doctors Antonio Ferrer Montiel and Asia Fernández Carvajal and focuses on the study of complex childhood epilepsies. It is a collaboration with the Niño Jesús Hospital in Madrid, the only entirely pediatric hospital in our country where Dr. Víctor Soto, an expert in pediatric neurology, is in charge of studying those cases of childhood epilepsy that present serious complexities.
Epilepsy is a pathology that has a relevant relationship with the so-called ion channels, which are membrane proteins that allow the passage of certain ions into the cell. Its deregulation can cause, among others, the development of epilepsy. Asia Fernández and Antonio Ferrer have more than two decades of experience in the study of these proteins, and Ferrer is also coordinator of the Spanish Research Network on Ion Channels.
We want to thank Grupo Soledad for its commitment to the causes that will be financed through this initiative.
