Dissemination

Dissemination is essential within the IDiBE philosophy, since bringing scientific knowledge closer to society is an important task. We advertise these activities on our social networks and also within the news section of this website. To carry out this activity we have various programs:

Science with Tapas

In this activity, we combine science outreach talks given by IDiBE researchers or invited speakers. After the presentations, we offer tapas and soft drinks, which encourages informal discussion and debate. We hold several sessions throughout the year, with one of them always dedicated to the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, celebrated on February 11.

IDiBE Scientific Conference

Once a year, the researchers at our institute present their work in an open event aimed at high school students, members of other research centers, and the general public. The presentations are designed to be accessible, helping attendees understand the work we do at IDiBE.

IDiBE cuenta

This initiative is carried out to bring the work of each research group closer to the rest of the IDiBE community. In each edition, one group participates by giving presentations or organizing a roundtable led by senior members, while junior researchers present their work through a poster session. We end the event with a Kahoot quiz to see who has learned the most, followed by an afternoon snack. You can see a summary of one of these editions at this link.

Scientific Image Contest

Each year, we organize a scientific image contest with the goal of selecting the best entries to be featured in our annual calendar.

A multidisciplinary jury evaluates the technical, aesthetic, and outreach value of the submitted images.

The awards are presented during the IDiBE Scientific Day, in a ceremony that recognizes the talent and creativity of the participants.

High School Vistits Program

At the same time, we receive visits from schools, during which we show them our facilities and explain the work we do at IDiBE.

The aim of these visits is to bring science closer to the educational community and, among other goals, to inspire scientific vocations among students.

The Outreach Committee, composed of María del Mar Ortega-Villaizán Romo, María José Martínez Tomé, Francisco Javier Martínez Hernández, José Manuel Serrano García, Francisco Javier Álvarez Martínez, Irene Concepción Pomares Bri, and Pedro Valentín Badía Hernández, is responsible for coordinating, planning, and implementing the various scientific outreach activities mentioned above.

We work collaboratively to:

• Design educational strategies that are accessible, dynamic, and engaging.
• Promote interest in science among diverse audiences, including students, educators, and the general public.
• Ensure that each outreach initiative aligns with our core values of education, awareness, and public engagement.

In addition, we actively develop specific initiatives and collaborate with a wide range of organizations and projects to bring science closer to society.

If you have a proposal, initiative, or idea related to science communication, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch — we welcome all opportunities for collaboration.
