DLS Brookhaven 90Plus Particle Analyser

The Particle Analyser 90 Plus (Brookhaven) enables rapid particle size measurements of colloids, latex, micelles, microemulsions, proteins and other nanoparticles in a wide variety of samples in solution. The instrument determines the effective mean diameter of particles ranging in size from one nanometre to several microns, or the multimodal size distribution for complex samples. The measurement, which is based on the principle of dynamic light scattering, is non-invasive, so samples are not affected by the measurement and can be retrieved or retained for further analysis. It is possible to determine the behaviour of the particles with temperature (measuring range 6-90°C) or time, in order to follow the evolution of the sample aggregation. In addition, the instrument allows highly sensitive measurements of the zeta potential, an important indicator of the surface charge of the particles, using the phase analysis light scattering technique (PALS).
